Some of the best advice I ever received was to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing. That’s right. The sales funnels, the robotic networking, the cut corners to success, nope, none of it will land you where you want to be if you are simply following in the footsteps of others. Be the unicorn in your real estate business.
Unicorns are Rare and Respected, Just Like You Want to be Regarded
Let’s be honest, there is often a (low) standard that many real estate professionals live up to. A common stigma is the fast-talking, deal-making, “on to the next one” realtor. They act like they just don’t care about you. Another one is the absent-minded (or even totally absent) realtor. They are never there when you call. Then, there’s you. You beautiful unicorn agent. (Ha!)
All jokes aside though, I am serious! Be that different realtor. The one that gives to local organizations, sponsors’ kids sport teams and trips, remembers people’s names and uses them, and stays true to their word. Wow, these are human qualities that everyone should have (you might be saying to yourself right now). Yet, so many real estate professionals do not show their very human side enough in business. Heart goes a long, long, long way. People remember the small (big!) things and will refer you time and again.
Standing Out In a Genuine Way Gets You in the Million Dollar Mindset
What if I told you that getting into the million dollar mindset had zero to do with actual money? You might say I am crazy. But, truly, the most successful real estate agents and real estate investors realize that money is simply currency. That means, energy. It goes up, it goes down, but it needs to be fed. How do you feed it? You create energy. That’s right, you create what you want to receive.
If you want a million dollars, from your own efforts, not from luck (which is another topic!), you need to structure your day and your week towards all activities that will get your closer to that million dollars. How are you going to get closer to that goal each day? Here is a great example of a REStructure NOW “Million Dollar Structure” for your real estate business.
What Does a “Million Dollar Structure” Look Like?
I’m giving away a lot right now, but if you’ve read this far, then you deserve it! PS, check out my video stash for more educational and motivational videos if you liked this article. Okay, back to the the Million Dollar Structure, let’s dive in.
First of all, you need to be making investments into yourself. Are you stressed? Go get some acupuncture. Lay in a sensory deprivation tank. Go for a long walk. Money is not an excuse for not taking care of yourself. There are sliding scale options, free first client offers, neighborhood recreation centers and also potentially trades you could make with a colleague. You have to put YOU first for this strategy to work.
The Next Steps to Structure Your Day and Week for Outrageous Success
Next, we recommend a coaching program or group that can help you stay on task. There are many, many free and paid programs out there. You can watch our videos for free and subscribe to our blog for tips like these, or consider working with us on a one-on-one basis. Once you’ve found your resources for trainings and support, you need to structure your day and week.
Each day truly should begin with exercise or sweating in some way. The oxygen that flows to your brain helps you make better and calmer business decisions. If you prefer to structure this at a different segment of your day, go for it (your structure has to work for YOU). Next, whatever you do, stay away from your phone. Social media and general scrolling has a way of literally sucking the time out of us. Social media is better done scheduled ahead (hiring someone is not a bad idea!) and then in the moments in between things. The beginning of your day is prime time. So, do what you need to do next to feel like you made progress. Tackle a project. Set a timer though! You do not want to spend all day going down a rabbit hole.
After the Big Stuff, What Next?
Okay, you got something huge done, nice job. Now is a good time to check your emails for the day. Make sure you’re not missing anything super important as it should be the beginning of the say still and you can still put out any fires (but you also made a big accomplishment). Next, prospecting is a good place to start. Set a timer and reach out to all avenues and follow-up with any loose ends. Read a new article about creative ways to prospect and try something new.
After that, reading is a good way to stimulate some more creativity. It can be anything. Honestly, I might recommend to stay away from self-help or industry books (touch on them here and there), but just reading something you love can get the brain going instead of struggling to push through dry literature or judging yourself as you read self-help books. Even fiction can bring on amazing ideas and help you with a mindful moment. (I like to balance both industry and self-improvement with fiction and nonfiction on a variety of topics.)
After you’ve exercised, tackled a big project, responded to emails, and prospected, I’d say you are looking pretty fabulous for the day – and it’s probably just past lunch. Get yourself something healthy and stretch!!!
What next? You might find this crazy again, but a million dollar mindset? It involves spending your time luxuriously. If you have gotten your work done, and maybe have a showing or two in the afternoon, or maybe nothing at all, spend it in a way that builds you up as a person. Go to an art exhibit, check out a class, swim laps, get your nails done (or do your own), try something new, take yourself on a tour, call a friend, doodle, paint, take your dog to the dog park, play with your kids, go to a museum… do whatever it is that makes you happy and ready to tackle each day with so much tenacity that everything starts clicking. And the next day? Press repeat.
